For Birth Parents

An adoption social worker will:

  • Talk about the options for an unplanned pregnancy
  • Answer questions about adoption
  • Support whatever decision is right for you

 

If you decide to pursue adoption, you have the right to:

 

  • Choose the family
  • Meet prospective adoptive parents
  • Plan whether or not to have contact with the adoptive family

 

For Adoptive Parents

An adoption social worker will help you:

  • Understand your options
  • Conduct a home study to prepare you for the adoption
  • Create a family profile and present your profile to birth parents
  • Understand open vs. closed adoption
  • Make plans that center on the child’s needs
